Croft Woods handicap race 4 (17 July)

News

The sun shone, the flies buzzed and runners set off in a cloud of dust – a summer scene in Croft Woods, 2013 version. 22 runners, including new boy Josh, bravely tackling a course he was unfamiliar with, competed round the 3 mile (approx) course. As usual, we all seemed to reach the last run-in along the forest track in close, but ever changing, formation as the faster runners picked off those ahead of them – Andrew obviously enjoyed the chase as he came home first in 21.50, breaking his own best time by 42 seconds.Young Dave R, making a welcome return to club activity, was second in 24.16, just ahead of Bryan. Mark L(21.39), the fastest on the night, again achieved a PB (by 15 seconds), as did Martin (24.31) by 6 seconds. Sam gave herself as much scope as possible to go on creating PBs by improving by a mere 1 second (to 29.41). Sue P showed the benefit of her marathon training to improve her PB by a massive 1min 27.

  1. Not related to Croft Woods, but Dave Rouse has plans:Does anyone fancy a training run at new radnor on sunday (please text [07970 865662] rather than email reply)?
Dave Moss, Gem, Glyn and I (no doubt several others I haven’t spoken to as well) are planning to do race the train on 17th August, anyone else fancy it? Probably going to travel up Friday afternoon/evening and camp, race on the Saturday afternoon and some of us plan to travel back on Saturday for the Bromyard rugby club summer ball in order to rehydrate for a dance floor based warm down, let me know if you want a ticket – Dave Rouse
